Style your workspace the Right Way

11 / 6 / 16 1 / 3 / 18

How are you from the last time you read my blog?

If you are new, welcome to my blog!

Today’s post is all about styling and creating your workspace to reflect your brand so that when you are at work your personal touches will be reflected in your workspace and will help you to stimulate your creative juices.

What am I referring to? I will let Gabrielle talk some more about this.

Hello there, you beautiful and talented fashionista, you! Spring fashion is underway and I’m sure you’ve already been working on securing those new season staples.

While you’re checking out the newest trends for the season, don’t forget about getting things updated in that all-too-important workspace of yours. Yes, you read that right. Your workspace: the office, the studio, that little corner of your dining room or kitchen.

I know you’re a fashion lover, but I also know that you’re a budding boss lady putting in a lot of work to build and grow your business. You spend some serious time in that work area, so you should make it feel comforting in some way.

Getting your work environment to match your personality is just as important as throwing on your signature-style dress and your favorite MAC lipstick and liner. I’ve got a few ways to help you upgrade and breathe easier in your workspace.

Get colorful with your workspace!

Say, “No,” to white/beige walls and that solitary peace of art of the beach that you picked up at Home Goods.

style your workspace

Your office, whether you expect visitors or not, is another part of your brand.

It’s just as important as your logo, your business card or your website, not to mention is another representation of your personality.

Paint goes a long way to upgrading your surroundings and adding some of “you” in the space. If you’re not into a lot of colors, that’s ok too. There are plenty of patterns out there that you could utilize to liven up the bare walls.

Get “colorful” by adding decals, wallpaper or using paint techniques to add pattern and a sense of depth.

Create your workspace with a visual business plan.

As your brand shows the world what your business is about, your business plan keeps you focused on where you’re going for yourself and any investors involved in your business. I’m sure as a business owner boss lady you’ve spent plenty of time, money, or both, on creating and finalizing your perfect business plan.

Now take that a step further and make it a part of your workspace décor. Create a collage of ideas, a poster of a presentation, or an infographic that you can frame and stick on the wall.

Worried about visitors being able to get a glimpse of your plans before you’re ready to roll them out? No problem. Get a double-sided frame and put your favourite quote on a brand-centered stock photo. Flip the frame over whenever you host a meeting.

Add your favourite knick-knacks to desks, walls, and shelving.

I’ve mentioned brand a lot in this post, and here’s another thing you have to remember: You are your brand. You are the face of your business. So what does that mean for your office space? It means that anyone should be able to enter your office and see, well, YOU.

Adding décor pieces is one of the easiest ways to add your personal touches, and it may not cost you anything at all if you have these items already laying around.

If you like collecting spring globes, have a spring globe or two, or ten. Does having family photos invigorate and encourage you? Clear a space on one wall and leave it open just for your favorite memories? Are you just a lover of office supplies? Create “seasons” with all your office décor and switch things up now and then.

Having personal touches in your workspace helps to stimulate your creative juices. Some business owners are laser focused on building a business. That’s great and commendable, but working in an environment that is properly put together adds value to your working experience.

Seriously, you are an awesome woman with an awesome personality and sick style. Show that personality when you’re working, too. You and your business are not two separate entities, and it’s time we stopped treating them like they are. Get personal and see how your entire outlook on work changes with the upgrades to your atmosphere.

Today I am sharing 5 tools that I absolutely can’t live without as a virtual assistant. These are tools that I use in my business on a daily basis and that I think will be great to be recommended as well, these tools will help you to make your work life so much easier for you to manage.

◊This post contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.◊

My favorite tools that I recommend you have in your online business!

These are a breakdown of the 5 tools that I will be talking about:

  • LastPass
  • Asana
  • Grammarly
  • Evernote
  • Dropbox

Don’t forget to check the sidebar and footer of this website for awesome resources!

5 must have free online tools

LastPass is the online tool you must have in your online business!

I was introduced to this tool when I attended a webinar and was so amazed by this software because as the name suggests, it’s a tool that manages and stores all your passwords.

I have to work on numerous clients’ case sensitive information and I really appreciate the invention of using this tool, because I loved it so much I started to use it in my business.

Now you can use it to store strong passwords for your emails, websites that you visit frequently as well as banking information. Use LastPass to help you create strong passwords, and it automatically lets you log in when you visit a saved site from the LastPass vault.

Asana is the online tool you must have in your online business!

Asana does it best! You can use this platform to schedule a specific task. This can cover the week or for the whole month.

Now how can you use Asana in your business? You can manage your personal projects for the day, the week or month, and it does come in handy when you need to have a reminder to do specific tasks for each hour of the day.

Asana is also useful in creating projects and also allows you to collaborate with team members and track the progress of a client’s work, it’s beneficial to use depending if you use it as a personal reminder to keep track of tasks you want to accomplish or to allow your clients to see the progress of their task, when you are completing it.

I highly recommend it, because I know you are living a busy life and you want tools in place to make your life simpler throughout the day.

I should point out that I just really love seeing the unicorn icon when I complete a task, hope you do too.

Grammarly is the online tool you must have in your online business!

Get your Grammar in check with Grammarly From the moment your computer starts, you want to make sure that Grammarly is in place to help you as a second pair of eyes for when you need to send off those email messages, even when you are creating content for your blog.

The #1 Writing Tool

Now I am not eliminating the fact that you should outsource this task if it’s not a strong point for you, I still get a third opinion from another human being. I do recommend Grammarly because it does check and keep your grammar in place if you are a LadyPreneur on a budget!

Evernote is the online tool you must have in your online business!

You might be wondering what Evernote is and why it will be beneficial to use in your business every day or on a need basis.

Yes, Evernote is a little life savior you can say goodbye to bookmarking when you visit pages in the past and tag pages by search or even label them by notes.

You might be saying how can this come in handy, well back then when you use to bookmark a page, the only way you could search for a page is if you visit that page often or even remember the name!

When using numerous pages per day or even the week, how can you keep track of such pages? This is where Evernote comes in and the beauty is when you do tag and clip a page it stays forever.

Dropbox is the online tool you must have in your online business!

I use Dropbox to save all my clients’ work and information. It’s simple; you can create numerous folders and all Dropbox does is automatically sync and update your clients’ information once you save it in the Dropbox folder on your computer or when you sign into the site.

You will have to create an account with the site in order to save your clients’ information. You can also use Dropbox for even your personal files. This tool will be useful for you because you can, at any time store all your documents, invoices, blog content ideas in Dropbox.

This can also be used to store and back up information on your site if it needs to be saved somewhere. Thought that was hard? Now go through all those information that you have been using for yourself such as files, content, you can even suggest to your clients’ to store their information via this software, and the beauty of it is if you do not need to download such information it can be easily shared via a link.

Now that you have seen my 5 everyday tools that I cannot live without, share in the comments below your must-have tools, and let’s see how these tools can help increase productivity in your business and benefit your clients’ lives.

It was nice of you to stop by.

Until then, happy hiring, and best wishes with your business.

Erase these mistakes from your blog using this free app!

9 / 22 / 16 6 / 1 / 18

How are you from the last time you read my blog?

If you are new, welcome to my blog!

◊This post contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.◊

Have this FREE app on your browser and you will never make a mistake again!

Don’t forget to check the sidebar and footer of this website for awesome resources!

free app to use on blog

Today I wanted to share my tool of the month with you. So take a seat, get that coffee or wine and let me talk some more about this pick. This is Grammarly.

Now, why do I like this FREE app? From the moment my computer starts, I make sure that Grammarly is in place to help me as a second pair of eyes for when I need to send off those emails, even when I am creating content for my blog.

This does not eliminate receiving a second opinion from another human being, but this does come in handy when you are a fashionista on a budget. I have this app installed on my browser to help me out with my grammar.

1-2-3 easy steps to use this FREE app on your blog and or social sites.

Now let me show you a step by step on how I use Grammarly. Now it’s easier to add this plugin to your chrome browser if you are using this browser. Another feature that I like with Grammarly is that once you install this app on your browser (namely Google) you are able to see a pop up from the sites you are visiting.

So let’s say that you are browsing your social media channels and you are making a post, once the errors are there, you will see the pop-up that comes up that allows you to correct these errors.

Grammarly Writing Support

This helps whenever you are visiting any sites. From you start composing a message you are able to see a pop-up of how to correct miss-spelled words or to add in and correct those grammatical errors.

Now I am not so good with my grammar so you can imagine how this is a lifesaver when you have to attend to clients work or sending out a simple email or reminder.

Get your Grammarly stamp of approval.

The good thing about this free app is that you do not necessarily have to log in to your account to create a new post for it to be corrected. Another benefit of having this app on your browser is let’s say you want to make a blog post, you can sign into your Grammarly account and create a new document.

On the free version, when you open a document from the dashboard of Grammarly you are able to get your entire document edited but once there are critical issues to be updated the premium version is a must if you do not want to hire an editor at this time.

Grammarly will erase these mistakes on your blog post!

This also helps when you are creating a post and a prompt is given to make corrections, this can include, from updating your sentence structure correctly or a phrase. Once you are done and you are satisfied with your blog post you can copy and paste the corrected document and paste it into your preferred platform.

The #1 Writing Tool

Grammarly also allows you to add your own words which might not be recognized from their directory. The good thing about it is that you are able to have this word used over and over again without it being picked up as misspelled.

I love the fact that this small but powerful plugin is my extra pair of eyes for looking out for those grammatical errors. This is a must-have for any individual, whether you are in business or not, in school or a writer I do recommend Grammarly because it does check and keep your grammar in place.

It was nice of you to stop by.

Until then, happy hiring, and best wishes with your business.
