Starting a business is one of the most liberating feelings in the world. But, at the same time, it is also one of the most stressful experiences you can make. Building a successful business doesn’t happen overnight. For many enthusiastic entrepreneurs, the way forward is to find a mentor you can trust. Your mentor acts as a compass when you’re lost and confused, showing you the way to establish and grow your business as a newcomer.

Unfortunately, finding a mentor can prove tricky. Even if you manage to identify relevant experts for your business niche, there is no guarantee they will accept to teach you how to become an entrepreneur.

Can you succeed without a mentor? It’s going to be a long and challenging learning process to create your first company without the benefit of knowledge and experience. But there are thankfully a few tips you can use to replace your mentor!

Don’t forget to check the sidebar and footer of this website for awesome resources!

You can find inspiration in true stories

Ultimately, a mentor is someone who has already made all the mistakes and who can teach you how to avoid falling in the same traps. You’d be surprised to discover that there is plenty of valuable business podcast material that lets entrepreneurs tell their stories.

You don’t need to get to know them to learn from them! Tune in to the podcasts that interest you, and you’re likely to find all the inspiration you need!

You can use reliable tools to do the hard work

You can’t replace experience, but you can replace know-how by smart tools. As a solo entrepreneur, finding solutions that let you get organised by doing all the hard work while you can focus on running your business is the best thing you can do.

From managing your invoicing system in a click to keeping track of your to-do lists with a task management tool, you can make sure you can concentrate your energy on what you do best, while the business effectively runs itself!

Network, network, network; you’ll always learn something

Networking is the most critical skill you need to develop as an entrepreneur. Not only does it help you to get in touch with potential suppliers and partners, but it’s also a fantastic way of meeting like-minded business people who are going through the same difficulties.

LinkedIn is a great place to start reaching out to professionals. But take a look at the events listed on Meetup and 4Networking too! You can learn valuable tips from entrepreneurs who are already established. More importantly, you can find people to talk to when you’re feeling lonely and lost.

Have you tried asking?

Your mentor is someone you can call when you’ve got a business-related question. But there are plenty of people online who are ready to help you and share their knowledge. All you need to do is ask.

Reddit, for instance, has many business subreddits such as entrepreneur and BusinessHub, where you can ask for advice or share your challenges with other users.

Similarly, there is no shame in venting on social media when things get too hard. Entrepreneurship can be a lonely path, but it’s up to you to reach out to find support!

No mentor? No problem! Who needs a mentor when there are so many valuable resources available to new entrepreneurs?

From business success stories to helpful admin tools, you don’t have to build your company alone.

It was nice of you to stop by.
